Alison Lyon
Welcome to The Indie's first venture online! It's been another learning curve, but thanks to the brilliant Mark Eagling at DThree and our wonderful contributors, here it is. (Clicking on Magazine above takes you to all the articles if you'd prefer to work your way through them that way).
We've got some fantastic articles this month and some new features.
- A roundup of some of the conversations the egroup has been having, together with a report from Lynne Foster about the difference the egroup made to her business recently. You'll also find Ben Lovejoy's Heuristic analysis advice here.
- Our Webmaster Liz Montgomery has given us yet more of her time and has written up the story of the planning and execution of our gorgeous new website. Be sure to read it as it gives us an update on the team's progress on the all-important 'Connect' function!
- Set aside some time to read Lesley Thompson's thought provoking discussion of the relative benefits and popularity of eyeball to eyeball vs online conversations. Let me know if you'd like to comment on this and I'll get Liz to turn on the 'comment' function and we can get a debate going!
- I think we all know the life of a quallie is a peripatetic one, and Jan Taber describes some of the more salubrious haunts she's had to stay in when conducting her business!
- Finally, Ben Lovejoy shares some absolutely gorgeous pictures he's managed to take whilst living a life in viewing studios.
We have lots of new members to welcome since the last, paper, Indie - see if you spot any old colleagues, friends or clients. If you'd like to remind yourself who your current committee are and how to contact them, look at the current ICG committee page.
Finally, for those of you who've been involved in the ICG's exploration of qualitative recruitment processes (you can download Alison Starr's comprehensive report on this activity here), I thought Jake's take on dodgy respondents might make you smile! (Click on the link above the cartoon to see the full size version)
Enjoy the rest of the summer, and don't forget to get thinking about items, articles, polemics and personal stories to send me for the next Indie Online!
Best regards
Alison
