Welcome
Dear ICGers and visitors - welcome to the second Indie online. Apologies for the delay between the first and second editions, however it was a bit of a challenging Autumn/Winter to say the least.
So, two things to celebrate : the beginning of a new year, and the 10th anniversary of the ICG! Let's hope 2012 is a successful and interesting year for you all, and that the maturing ICG continues to grow in influence and strength. We've been able to lobby significantly for independents' interests this year, and if you have any suggestions for areas where we can bring our collective metal to bear, please do get in touch.
Promoting ICG members' expertise
We have some new initiatives, which we're excited about :
- a series of 'expert videos' launching on our website
- a series of Webinars on topics such as Twitter Basics and Social Media (which are available in 'resources' above)
- a series of 'Guide to' which we are using to promote the expertise and skills available within the membership
In this quarter's Indie Online!
Given the depth of methodological wisdom in these new resources, we decided to concentrate on practical advice, work/ life balance and insights from overseas members in this Indie. SO ... I hope you enjoy the great articles and information in this Indie - happy reading!
- Michelle Drapeau gives advice on promoting both ourselves and (thereby) the ICG;
- Paul Hutchings tells the tale of how he briefly went over to the dark, corporate side;
- Iris Griffiths, in the first of what we hope will be a regular series from internationally-based or -active members, explains how a new middle class is emerging in Brazil;
- Andrew Smith, our Chairman, celebrates 10 years of the ICG;
- We welcome a hoard of new members - have a look at the list to see if you can re-connect with old friends, colleagues, clients etc.
- We've also included a new section, with a roundup of ICGers' activities - those reported in the news, those raising funds for great causes, and those which were just great fun
- And finally we've included some industry and ICG event news.
