There is no wish to impede the wisdom, advice, honesty and openness of the egroup, but it is necessary to ensure fairness to anyone discussed in the posts. To avoid the risk of defaming any person or organisation, the following principles apply:
- Comments about suppliers should be based upon recent experience, that is within the past year.
- Any negative comments should be fully supportable by evidence if challenged.
- A sense of balance should be maintained; there may be positive as well as negative comments to be made.
- Any negative comments reflect a member's particular experience and should not be assumed to reflect the supplier's general performance.
- No individual members'™ comments, negative or positive, represent a formal view of the ICG or the egroup moderator.
- No exchange of views and experiences should be seen as endorsing a collective course of action in favour of or against any party.
- ICG egroup discussions should be treated as confidential to ICG members, unless agreed otherwise. This confidentiality is part of the terms of membership of the egroup.
- Think very carefully before making any negative comments at all. And remember rule 2.
In the unlikely event of any messages being posted which appear to be defamatory, they will be deleted from the archive of messages which Yahoo maintains on its website.
