MRS membership changes and the CPD Programme
As many of you will know, the MRS has just launched its Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme. The launch of CPD coincides with a change to MRS membership grades, where CPD will become a new route to achieving the 'Certified Member' grade which replaces the old 'Full Member' grade. The CPD programme is open to all grades of MRS member - people wishing to become Certified Members and those who simply wish to continue their own professional development.
The programme is designed to be low cost and non-compulsory; participants will be expected to undertake 21 hours of CPD training per year. This will consist of 14 hours 'Formal' and 7 hours of 'Informal' training.
Formal will include:
- Attending a training course, seminar, workshop or conference
- Studying for an examination
- Writing an article or book
- Speaking or contributing at an event
The ICG has been able to get the MRS to agree that our whole events and webinar programme will be accredited for CPD and it is our intention that our members will be able to achieve all of their 'Formal' CPD training requirements by attending ICG events.
To get started, call or email the MRS CPD Advisory Service to register your interest. The MRS will then set you up a CPD account and email you login details email@example.com (+44 (0) 20 7566 1820).
You can also find out more at https://www.mrs.org.uk/cpd, here you will find the CPD Handbook, the Benchmark Standards, an obligatory component required when going from Member to Certified Member and the Professional Development Framework. Non MRS members are not able to take part in the CPD programme, but of course our events and webinar programme is open to all ICG members whether you join CPD or not!
