I have always been an independent sort of person, much focused and always passionate about the things I do
I gave up working for other people when I was 25, in fact I started an entertainments agency in Nottingham when I was 18! Since then my husband Alan and I have owned and sold several businesses ranging from fast food to child care. Employing 15 staff and being responsible for 42 children from 6 weeks to 8 years old. We were the first nursery in the region to offer parents a breakfast club and after school club.
At one point I was featured as a business start-up example for the National Training and Enterprise Council and the Nat West Bank.
There was a life size cardboard cut out of me in every Job centre and Nat West Bank in the country …. Scary!!
Alan & I set up Talk Back in 1999 along with our Co Director Vivienne Morgan who stepped down in 2006 when we expanded into larger premises. We now have 3500sq ft. of viewing studios and office.
Alan comes from a marketing background and his experiences from the client based side of the industry have proved invaluable, bringing a great formula to our business.
We have worked together in business most of our married life and I believe we have a really brilliant working relationship.
We have been featured on live air discussion for BBC Radio Nottingham debating the pros and cons of Husband and Wife working together and how it can make or break relationships.
I think we must just be really lucky because our marriage and our business seem to be growing from strength to strength.
Recently Talkback was featured on BBC East Midlands Today discussing e-tailing consumerism. I’m in front of a camera this time.
All of my working life has been spent dealing with members of the public in one way or another and dealing with projects bringing lots of elements together.
Over the 19 years Talkback has grown so has my experience in market research.
I now head the market research side of the Talkback Viewing Studios Company.
I believe that my strength in the project management of research projects comes from my past experience in project management and 19 years within the market research industry
On a personal level, I love meeting and speaking to all the different people I deal with daily and that’s why I love market research as I do. Every day is different and brings new challenges.
