Our research solutions are often multi-mode. I started in research as a Quantitative researcher but in the 16 years of insight engineers have also become comfortable in Group Moderation and Executive Interviewing and often include Secondary Research (desk research & data mining) in research solutions. 

We enjoy helping to confirm hypotheses or unlearn established beliefs and appreciate that "not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted"

Speciality

We focus on understanding needs, decisions and response to new ideas and services. We seek to understand and build brand attractiveness, relevance, trial, repeat sales and advocacy. We are happy to work with client databases and public domain intelligence to inform and shape multi-mode research solutions.

1. Primary research.
​We deliver ICRs (Insights, Consequences and Recommendations) on all our projects.

Over time we have established several more standardised approaches to cost effectively support client decision-making 

2. Secondary Research
Precursive desk research has become an appreciated part of our research solutions. We are Readers at the British Library and enjoy the support of ICG colleagues and a team in India for projects outside of GB.  

3. Friendly Review
A special part of our work is to support via hourly based engagements - a low risk way for end clients and other agencies to quickly have experienced & objective help with strategic input at peak times or when short staffed/overloaded.

Background

I founded Insight Engineers with a Qualitative partner in early 2003. I have enjoyed delivering grounded research answers and strategic insights to client questions in B2B & Consumer target groups for UK and international clients since then with a network of strong partners and increasingly ICG members by referral.

Inquisitive and problem-solving by nature, I value best practice orientation and appreciate models of strategic thinking. My joy is to align the necessary practical details of our research solutions to your bigger picture and business issue. I appreciate other people's skills and viewpoints, asking only for decency and straight-dealing. 

My heart enjoys innovation, communications, user experience and customer/prospect engagement … and my head is always looking to provide an objective and grounded voice into decision-making process.

Some of my client relationships go back over 25 years – if we have worked together, you know I can be trusted to reliably deliver & evolve with you – and that I appreciate the implicit & the explicit, the unsaid & the stated.

I have been a full MRS & Company Partner Member for nearly 30 years and enjoy being a member of the BHBIA (Adverse Events), BIG, Esomar, and the ICG.

My wife and I have been blessed with 4 children and now they are away at university/working abroad using the language skills our genes have passed on, I am enjoying being an active Colts cricket coach & player in my spare time.
