Background

When I left school I worked for Midland Bank, after a year as a Copy Typist  I  was offered my dream job - to run  Elton John's UK Fan Club.

I (obviously!) took the job without knowing what the salary was, resigned from the bank the next day and I stayed there for almost 5 years.

Then I fell into the doors of Brook Street Bureau in 1980 and worked as a Director's Secretary at The Consumer Connection (later to become Connexions) for 5 years before moving into Field.

When Connexions folded in 1991 I was asked to join Crucible Research (one of the companies that grew from the ashes of Connexions) as their Field Manager.  I also organised recruitment for the children's/youth section - Young Direction.

In 1995 I to set up my own Fieldwork Company (Qualitative Fieldwork Services which evolved into Emerald Fieldwork in 1995).
