Qualitative Fieldwork

Having worked in both private and public research organisations for over 21 years, Lynn Dallas set up her own agency in January 2011, Dallas Fieldwork Ltd, offering quality data collection services to local, national and international clients in Northern Ireland and RoI.

These services include the full range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies including focus group and depth interview recruitment, face to face interviewing, exit studies, central location interviewing, mystery shopping and observation research. During her career she has worked in a wide range of sectors, including an advertising specialist group, which has afforded her the opportunity to develop her knowledge and skills in much more than the conventional field management role. She continually looks for diverse and creative solutions to what can sometimes be challenging barriers in the delivery of quality fieldwork especially in the current economic climate. Her success can be measured by the level of repeat commissions and long term working relationships with her clients.

Six area supervisors with over 100 years+ combined market research experience overseeing a team of 100+ interviewers. Lynn works with a network of local research associates specialising in a wide range of sectors and research specialisms. All team members are trained to the standards of the Interviewer Quality Control Scheme (IQCS). All fieldwork is conducted to the Market Research Society Code of Conduct.

She has taken lead roles in client liaison, project set-up, sample and questionnaire design and review, on -going project management and progress monitoring, interviewer and recruiter recruitment, training and assessment, quality control at all levels of the process including data editing, entry and coding. She has developed procedures for the enhancement of quality recruitment for qualitative research specifically to deal with the issue of repeat attendees and professional focus group participants. Lynn has been a long term advocate of IQCS and delivers all projects to its standards.

All fieldwork is validated by specifically trained audit staff. Two or three people from each focus group recruited are randomly selected for detailed profile checks. A minimum of 10% of each interviewers work is routinely validated by telephone. Where there is an unacceptable lack of respondent contact information then other methods such as revisiting respondents is conducted in person by a supervisor. The work of new interviewers is 100% checked until the agency management are satisfied with the quality of the work submitted. All completed questionnaires are 100% sight and logic edited by trained staff before data entry. Interviewers regularly receive feedback on the standard their work and any issues resolved or further training offered should the need arise.

Lynn is available (8am-11pm) and in daily contact with the supervisors whilst projects are in the preparation and live ‘in field’ stages.
