Director, Ginger Research Limited

Overview

Ginger Research specialises in social sector research.
We support anyone in the business of delivering social value to the UK public.

Services

Ginger provides qualitative and qual/quant research services to anyone conducting social research for UK-based organisations delivering positive social change.

Our offer is based on our experience of conducting health research on behalf of NHS, government and public sector organisations, as well the wide range of issues affecting the general public's health and wellbeing e.g. social/cultural, environmental, occupational and financial health issues.

We're happiest tackling the gaps emerging between our clients and their clients.  This often involves creating environments that drive behaviour change, evaluating user experience in order to design more inclusive services and optimising understanding via branding and communications.

We can help if you would like support with tasks such as:

  • Assessing feasibility of researching sensitive topics
  • Tricky recruitment of niche audiences
  • Designing research tools e.g. cognitive survey testing (a favourite!)
  • Facilitating conversations about complex/detailed topics
  • Analysing and reporting of mixed data sets

Ginger can also help you consider how to create social value during the research process e.g. by contributing to the communities of place or interest being researched, or by adding value to our clients’ experience of conducting research.

If we can help you to help your client to make a bigger impact, please get in touch!

About

Ginger Research are former Research Works Limited colleagues, Amy Smith and Jill Barnett.

Amy has 29 years experience of leading mixed methods social research projects for public and voluntary sector clients.  She enjoys partnering with research and creative agencies, having regularly worked with Ipsos MORI to deliver blended quant/qual projects on behalf of government departments.  Over the past 10 years, Amy has been a devoted Chair of Governors for a local primary school.  She is now looking for a new way to support her local community that doesn’t involve Ofsted.  She has a degree in English Literature from Girton College, Cambridge.

Jill’s forte is all things operational, which includes running Ginger’s own independent field force.  As a trained quallie, Jill ensures that we design practical and respondent-friendly methodologies and mobilises participant recruitment speedily.   Jill is also responsible for all things financial.  Despite having a degree in English from Oxford University, she is very fond of playing with spreadsheets and Xero.

If we need help we call Stephanie Rowley (another former Research Works Limited colleague).  Steph was most recently Senior Client Director of the qualitative team at Kantar Millward Brown and is now also working as an independent.
