Director, Lore Consulting (Singapore)

Overview

LORE is a qualitative research boutique based in Singapore. We run projects throughout APAC - with strong experience in China, Japan, India, and across SE Asia (Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines) - working with blue chip brands and creative agencies.

Services

LORE work with a selection of like-minded independent researchers, stand-out boutiques and trusted recruiters across APAC markets, where we have over a decade of experience. Being based in a 'hub' market like Singapore gives us unique access to the region, and the global clients who have a central APAC office here.

Our projects typically involve communications development, UX testing,  journey mapping and brand positioning - often involving multiple markets in the same study and encompassing both B2B and B2C audiences.

As part of this, we are method-agnostic - but most commonly use methods including group discussions, depth interviews, online diaries/ forums/ self-ethnographic exercises and more immersive in-home or accompanied store visits/ hang-outs. We also partner with quantitative specialists to deliver integrated approaches.

Sectors we have strong experience in include travel, financial services (including payments and HNW segments), technology, FMCG (especially around nutrition/ dairy products), sports and entertainment.

We are also very comfortable teaming-up with other researchers/ agencies (as well as brand consultancies and creative agencies) to deliver specific aspects of a project on a more ad-hoc basis. We love to collaborate if it means working with inspiring people and on interesting challenges.

About

I have been working in market research for close to 20 years, with the first half of my career spent in London, and the latter half in Singapore. Meaning much of my experience has involved international studies.

Although qualitative research has always been my forte, I enjoy working on mixed-method studies and the more robust and rounded answers they tend to deliver.

My 'way in' to research was via my academic background in Product Design Engineering (University of Glasgow) and Design, Manufacturing and Management (Cambridge) where I was exposed to design processes and frameworks designed to deeply understand peoples' needs, habits and decision-making. Blended with my fascination with the power of brands, I soon realised that my academic skillset could be applied to marketing and product/ service related challenges outside of being a Design Engineer per se.

Beyond research I enjoy travelling to various Asian destinations with my family, running, sport (in various forms) and keeping tabs on the latest culinary delights found here in Singapore.
