Qualitative Research // Brand Strategy // Workshop Facilitation

Services

I like working collaboratively and flexibly and I can help with:

Qual Research: I’ll manage every aspect of a research project, including proposal writing, research design, moderation, analysis and debriefs. I also work flexibly and can collaborate with existing teams on any part of a larger project.

Experience includes:

  • Methodology: Video, and face-to-face focus groups, ethnography, and depths. I also have lot’s of experience in asynchronous online research such as communities and mobile ethnography
  • Project Types: Creative, advertising, branding positioning, brand identity, packaging, innovation, customer journeys

Brand Strategy and Innovation: Design brand strategy workshops either for internal teams or with leading co-creation workshops so you can work directly with your customers to solve brand challenges. I’ll then help digest the output to help create branding and innovation strategies

And of course, I can combine research with workshops to help internal teams create evidence-based strategies.

A couple of recent testimonials:

“Sharon led us, in the space of a day, from a loose collection of ideas to a focused message that has already elevated the quality of our communication with our audience. She pulled off the perfect balance of being structured while allowing space to explore ideas and was a delight to work with from start to finish.”

Sharon is an absolute professional and such a joy to work with! She is really passionate about research and is able to think outside the lines. I love her dedication, presentation skills, work mentality, and personality. So much value for money! 🙂

Speciality

I’ve always loved trying to unpick the wonderful messiness of why people behave the way they do. And that’s not only led me to devour way too many books on psychology, but also into a career that has meandered through marketing, advertising, branding, innovation, and research.

What I do now is put all that knowledge to use in helping businesses get to know their customers (qual research), create desirable brands (brand strategy), and build those brands (innovation).

And more than anything else, I aim to be useful in helping brands get to where they want to be.

Background

Ever sat in an insight or branding presentation and thought…’Wow, that’s interesting, but what do I do with it?’

I certainly have, so I know how frustrating it can be.

As an experienced marketer, who now specialises in qual research and brand strategy, I’d like to make sure that you never feel like that after working with me.

And I can do that because over the last 25+ years my career has given me a first-hand view into how different marketing businesses use research and branding work. I’ve been fortunate enough to work client-side; as a planner in large & small ad agencies; branding & design agencies; shopper marketing; and a large research & innovation agency.

Some of the businesses I’ve worked in include P&G, Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, and C Space – my CV has lot’s more detail, and I’d be delighted to share it with you.

With so many agencies and that much time under my belt, I’ve accumulated experience in FMCG (lots of it!), health & beauty, retail, fashion, tech, finance, telecoms, and hospitality.  And I’ve been unbelievably fortunate to work with brands like H&M, Nestle, innocent, Three mobile, McDonald’s, Kellogg’s, The Body Shop, Coty, Heinz, Philips, and P&O Cruises. I’ve also worked with a myriad of smaller businesses and always enjoy it.

So, I know that insight must be more than interesting, it has to be useful and I always aim dip into all my experience to answer the ‘so what’ question.
