We are Rooftop Research: Two freelance qual researchers, Paul and Katrin, based in Berlin, working in both English and German-speaking markets. Combined we have 30 years of experience working with major players in FMCG, Tech, Automotive, Food & Beverage.

We offer full-service as well as freelance support. We moderate in both German and English (Katrin a native German, Paul a native Brit) and work together to uncover cultural differences and connections between the UK, US and Germany.

About
I am a seasoned market researcher with a background in Psychology and over 17 years of experience leading national and international projects across both qualitative and quantitative methodologies — with a strong focus on qualitative research.
With extensive expertise as a moderator and interviewer, applying a wide range of methods including ethnography, online studies, in-depth interviews (IDIs), UX research, focus groups, and workshops.
I have worked with diverse target groups — from children to seniors, including projects on sensitive topics and am an expert in LGBTQ+ research.
Until going freelance in 2018, I was a senior researcher at Happy Thinking People (now Human8), a leading boutique agency with offices in Berlin, Munich, Zurich, and Paris.
My client portfolio spans sectors such as Technology, White Goods, Healthcare Software, Pharmaceuticals, Apparel, Food & Drink, B2B, and Health & Beauty.
Clients include Google, Facebook, Amazon, Miele, Electrolux, Bosch, Kärcher, L’Oréal, Victorinox, Henkel, P&G, Zalando, and Shopify.
I have also also presented at ESOMAR congresses, earning the Best Presentation award in 2012.
