From breakdown to breakthrough: a lived experience of stress-induced burnout and what SMEs can learn from this
September 27 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
This webinar is generously sponsored by Respondi
We invite you to join James Pickles in conversation with the ICG; how he got there, why he burned out, where he is now, and what this all means for SMEs today.
This webinar will help us recognise and embrace ways of addressing our mental wellness – at work and beyond.
James is a personal and performance life coach and mental health advocate who talks very powerfully about his own experience of stress, burnout and breakdown when he was in a successful and growing company. He is here to share with us some of the valuable, and sometime painful, lessons he has learned – and continues to learn – about how admitting that he wasn’t fine, speaking out and then seeking help, enabled him to survive, rebuild and breakthrough to another career as an independent.
As he is also now a fellow independent consultant, running his own small business, he has a particular perspective to offer the ICG and hopes that, by telling his story and through this discussion, you will be encouraged to reflect on your own experiences and ask plenty of questions. Questions that can lead to dialogue, a recognition and acknowledgement of issues and a realisation that you don’t have to cope alone.
He’ll share his full experience of the effects of stress-induced anxiety and offer some insights into what he’s learned, what he wishes he’d known, what advice he would give his old self and how employers and employees and can take ownership of their well-being at work and at home.

This event is proudly partnered with the MRBA.
The MRBA exists to provide financial support and advice to individual colleagues experiencing real hardship, who work or have worked in any aspect of market research, and who are based in the UK. This can also include the financial support for those that require mental health services, that might be too slow or too costly to access as standard. We offer support with respect, sensitivity and in confidence.
