Introduction to Cyber Security – starts 9th January
Future Learn is owned by The Open University. The organisation offer a range of free 'taster' courses accessible online (mobile, tablet and desktop). I have taken part in a couple of courses and found them easy to access, easy to follow (step by step) and paced well.
In this online course, lasting 8 weeks, the course helps you to understand online security and give hints and tips as to how to protect your digital life, both personally and at work. It points out the threats, demonstrates different types of malware (viruses and trojents) and explores issues such as network security, cryptography, identity theft and risk management.
The course is run by Cory Doctorow, a visiting professor at The Open Univeristy, and provides a good overview/ introduction to the subject.
