Selling to the public sector
The Government is Open for Business and wants to work with more small and medium businesses across the UK. They have made a commitment to spend £1 in every £3 with small businesses by 2020, and if you have products or services to sell, this represents an opportunity worth £15bn per year for SME's.
HMRC has appointed Emma Jones as the Small Business Crown Representative – her job is to help small businesses do business with the public sector. Emma is not only consulting with small businesses, but is also running a series of webinars which will help small businesses bid for, and win, more contracts. Whilst not specific to market research, there is nonetheless opportunity here to refine how we, as small businesses, approach and respond to RFIs.
There is a dedicated the webpage where you'll find the latest news and updates, blogs, case studies and upcoming opportunities to supply to government. There is also a contracts finder which helps you search and view opportunities to supply the government and its agencies.
Emma Jones will be hosting a series of webinars, talking directly to government buyers about how to source contracts and perfect your pitch, and with entrepreneurs who have successfully sold to government.
