At EXPLNERS, we create explainer videos for the insight industry. These videos take complex and important ideas and making them simple and engaging. We use a mix of data visualisation, animation, voiceover, music, sound effects, expert interviews and existing footage such as vox pops or focus group respondents.

About
Hi! I’m Dan 👋🏼
I'm a researcher and a film maker. I’ve been making videos for brands, research agencies and non-profits for years 🎥
Before going independent, I worked my way up from Research Exec to Content Creator for a large research agency. My degree from The Northern Film School helped influence a range of video deliverables for clients, and in 2019 I made the jump to being an independent researcher.
I founded THE WORD IS OUT in 2019 and I co-founded EXPLNERS in 2023 with two fellow ICG members (Judith Rose and Mark Whalley).
All of my videos are designed to educate and inspire stakeholders, and bring research to life with powerful and engaging visuals.
My videos have had a BIG impact internationally on the teams at Rolls Royce SMR, Just Eat, Card Factory, Birds Eye, PepsiCo, ASDA, Futures Housing Group, Five Guys, KFC, Mars, Reach Plc and more.
I've been nominated for the 'MRS Independent Consultants Award' twice - most recently in 2024 for my work with Futures Housing Group delivering a range of documentary-style research films packed full of inspiring insights.
