MRS/ICG Award for Independent Consultants 2023: WE HAVE A WINNER (and a Highly Commended)

05 Dec 2023 | ICG Award, ICG News & Announcements

Congratulations to ICG member Sally Kemkers, with her team at Untapped Innovation, for winning this year’s MRS/ICG Award for Independent Consultants.

Untapped Innovation’s submission,‘How research-led innovation helped BookTrust reach disadvantaged children’ helped  BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, with their ambitious five-year strategy to further their work with families from low-income or vulnerable backgrounds.

Untapped Innovation conducted innovative qualitative research amongst BookTrust target families, alongside semiotic analysis and social listening and fed the resulting insights into co-creative ideation and prototyping.

The outcome for BookTrust was multiple appealing ideas and three actionable tools to assess future innovation, that have changed the organisational mindset and will guide the charity for years to come.

Of Untapped Innovation’s submission, the judges said:

“This excellent case study shows a micro-business using a creative range of complementary research methods to drive a programme of innovation, with long-lasting impact for the client. It is also a great demonstration of the power of bringing together a bespoke team of independents.”

It also underlines the skills, knowledge and expertise available in the independent sector and especially from the ICG – a group of over 400 independent research consultants.

We also congratulate ICG member Adam Pearson and his colleague Emma Slater, of PS Research, for receiving Highly Commended for this award. More about this submission here.
