Virtual meet up for ICGers in the East

24 Nov 2020 | ICG News & Announcements

East-based ICG members have met physically in the past, though not for a while, for obvious reasons.  At lunchtime on 6thNovember, we had our first virtual meet-up, courtesy of Zoom.

Seven ICGers attended – Andrew Long, Carol Raithatha, Caroline Southard, Jill Elston, Liz Montgomery, Martyn Richards and Val Keel.

Despite the fact that this was Lockdown 2 Day 2, virus-based discussion was minimal.  After all reporting clear and sunny skies – a benefit of common geography – we talked about a range of things, but two in particular.  The first was the idea of Skill Swaps – where one ICGer might coach another in a specific skill, in return for being coached themself.  The second was the use of software to facilitate proposal-writing.  Several alternatives were discussed, plus an exchange of views about what clients are looking for in proposals these days, and why some are more successful than others.

We decided to meet-up in this way monthly, and to include a topic each time in our chats.  The idea of Skills Swaps will be the first, next month – Caroline will introduce the concept, then we will discuss how it could be made to work for us.
